SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, Labour Minister M. Ampareen Lyngdoh and Shillong MP Vincent Pala skipped the function attended by Union Minister of Labour Bandaru Dattatreya on Friday.
However, the plaque unveiled by the Union minister mentions the names of three dignitaries of the State as present on the occasion.
Justin Dkhar, Commissioner and Secretary of Labour, said, “Our Chief Minister is occupied with other programmes and the Labour Minister had to leave for Chennai for medical treatment. They have conveyed their wishes to the dignitaries from the Government of India, particularly to the Union Minister of State.”
Speaking on the industrial scenario in the State, Dkhar said, “Meghalaya may have less factories and industries but the State is coming up with processing units. Even food and processing industries in Meghalaya is coming up. The backbone of industrial units is lying with the manufacturing of cement.”
