CM launches community-led ecosystem management project

WILLIAMNAGAR: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma launched the community-led eco-system management project at Me·gagre village under Samanda C&RD Block in East Garo Hills on Monday.
School Education and Literacy Minister Deborah C Marak and Parliamentary Secretaries, Cherak W Momin and Sengnam M Marak, were also present on the occasion.
During the launch, the Chief Minister informed that the main objective of the project is to make people self-reliant and make them aware of how to make a living by utilising natural resources. While dwelling on the “Mission Organic” Sangma stressed on the need to go for scientific and organic cultivation.
On the occasion, the State Government also signed an agreement with the Nokmas of Me·gagre, Nengmandalgre, Rongrekgre, Ja·kopgre, Cherangre, Ga·ning Bibra and Gitokgre A·king Lands which have been identified for promotion of solar and hydro energy.
