1 arrested for raping minor
SHILLONG: A man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor on January 13. Police said that the incident happened on Friday when one Md. Zahirul Islam (23) raped a sixteen year old girl at Ichamati, East Khasi Hills. Police have arrested the accused.
Traffic police injured in accident
A traffic personnel and a driver were injured in an accident in Jowai.
The incident took place on January 12, when a Maruti Swift D’Zire driven by Haren Kalita knocked down one Traffic Branch UBC/372 B. Rabha at Iawmusiang, Jowai. The injured were removed to Dr. Norman Tunnel Hospital.
False mortgage of land
One Iaiap Dkhar of Khliehtyrshi (WJH) lodged a complaint that on September 10 last, one Lutmon Rymbai and her husband, Chwami Passah cheated the complainant by selling her plot of land at Ladmukhla village (WJH), through mortgaged documents to Jowai Cooperative Urban Bank and also took an advance of Rs. 1 lakh.
Car lifting
On January 13 at about 1.30 pm, unknown miscreant(s) stole one Maruti Zen (ML-05D-3992) belonging to Sadananda Daimary from BSNL quarter complex, Rynjah, Shillong.
On the night of January 12, unknown miscreant(s) stole one Dumper truck (ML-04C-0856) belonging to Than Khonglah from Khliehtyrshi, Jowai (WJH).
Woman knocked down at Laban
On January 13 at about 10.15 pm, one Alto Car (ML-05N-2707) driven by C. Ryntathiang knocked down one Rebica Pyngrope (27) at Madan Laban, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was removed to Bethany Hospital.
