Madanrting OC’s transfer: City SP refutes ‘pressure’ allegation

SHILLONG: SP (City) Vivek Syiem refuted allegations that the Madanrting OC, who was handling the rape and trafficking case involving a minor, was transferred due to pressure from certain quarters.
Syiem termed the move as a routine transfer.
There was criticism from several quarters against the sudden transfer of Officer in Charge of Madanrting police station, Inspector B.K Mishra, who according to sources was directly or indirectly instrumental in the arrest of as many as six accused in the sex-racket case involving a minor girl in the city.
Meanwhile, commenting on the transfer of the case from Laban PS to Madanrting, Syiem said, “Trafficking and confinement started from Madanrting, hence the case was transferred there.”
