Youth killed in crossfire identified

TURA: A man who was killed in crossfire between GNLA militants and police during an encounter at remote Rongrigittim village of South Garo Hills has been identified as 23 year old Kerok R Marak of the same village.Search operation teams of South Garo Hills police had completed their operation to look for hidden militants inside the village on Thursday afternoon when they were fired upon from a hillock leading to an encounter.As the firing commenced and people ran for shelter a stray bullet reportedly hit the young man. It is reported that Kerok died on the way to medical centre.
Police recovered several live rounds of AK ammunition and incriminating documents of the GNLA from their hideout.
