NONGPOH: Donkupar Sumer has been named as UDP’s candidate from Umsning constituency for the 2018 Assembly elections.
The announcement at the general council meeting on Saturday came after party workers in the Umsning circle put pressure on top leaders to make it official. The party workers were elated after Paul Lyngdoh, the party’s Ri Bhoi district in charge, confirmed Sumer’s candidacy. Hundreds of party workers from 14 sub-circles under Umsning attended the Council. Donkupar Roy, Jemino Mawthoh, Titus Chyne and H.S Shylla were among the top leaders who attended the meeting.
The meeting also decided on the names of the office bearers of UDP Umsning circle, the women’s wing of the circle and the youth wing.
