UDP asks district units to finalise candidates

SHILLONG: With an eye on the 23018 Assembly election the UDP has directed all districts to finalise the candidates for the respective constituencies before March 31, 2017.
In a statement to the press on Thursday, the UDP said that the party wanted the candidates to have ample time to prepare for the elections. “The UDP is hopeful that it will gain more seats,” the statement said.
The party has expressed happiness that Albinus Lyngdoh, MDC from Umroi Constituency and his supporters have joined the UDP.From Jaintia Hills, on January 23, Kor Sympli, ex-MDC from Rymbai constituency joined the party again. Sympli had taken a break from active politics.
