SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Wednesday in the years to come, Meghalaya would have a self-reliant economy.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the Pynursla Civil Sub-Division on Wednesday, he said, “We talk about resource constraints and lack of funds but we respond to the expectation of people in spite of the perpetual problems because we understand that the State has the strength to take care of its finances in the years to come.”
In this regard, Sangma said the Government is coming up with a revised Tourism Promotion and Investment Policy and “Rebecca Suchiang is working on it”.
The Chief Minister pitched for ‘Destination Meghalaya’ for self-sustainability and said, “We will no longer have to depend on others in the years to come. That will happen if we take advantage of all the opportunities as well as attract investments in the field of tourism, education and health. It will happen when we take care of our nature and the environment.”
