Headmen offer land to set up Mawlai Block

SHILLONG: The headmen of five villages under Mawlai constituency have agreed to provide land free of cost so that the new Mawlai Community and Rural Development Block can come up at Mawsiatkhnam.
The people of Mawsiatkhnam, Umrynjah, Madan Mawkhar, Nongkohlew and Umprew are supporting the cause. The five villages have come together under the umbrella body of Synjuk Ki San Durbar Shnong Mawlai Constituency to pursue the matter.
In this regard, the village representatives led by Mawlai MDC from the Congress, PT Sawkmie handed over a letter to the Director of the C&RD stating that the Block should be located in Mawlai.
