JOWAI: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Southern Riwar circle has lodged a complaint with the West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner against rampant overloading by trucks transporting coal, limestone and boulders to Bangladesh via Tamabil.
The HNYF has accused the staff of the Transport department including its officers (Enforcement) deputed at Sohkha weighbridge for allowing the overloaded trucks to operate.
“The weighbridge has not only violated the NGT order but made a mockery of the Supreme Court order which restricts the permissible load to 9 mts,” HNYF chief T Lamba said and added the trucks are carrying anywhere between 20-25 mts.
