Nongpoh: Chief Adviser to the State Government and local MLA DD Lapang on Thursday inaugurated three developmental schemes in a function held at Jermanai village in Ri Bhoi.
The schemes inaugurated were improvement, metalling and black-topping of 2 km road connecting Umkonto-Jermanai, sanctioned under the General State Scheme amounting to Rs 1.02 crore, a community hall sanctioned under Special Rural Works Programe (SRWP) at an amount of Rs. 2 Lakh and the office building of Seng Kynthei Jermanai (women’s body) of the village constructed under SRWP at a total cost of Rs. 1.50 lakh.
Speaking at the function, Lapang congratulated the residents of the village for availing the developmental schemes and urged them to properly utilise the facilities.
“Ri Bhoi district is progressing with time and the need of the hour is to maintain the spirit of unity and cooperation among the people,” Lapang said.
Among others present in the function were BDO of Umling C&RD Block, R. Kharbihkhiew, Assistant Executive Engineer PWD, L.S Bareh, Executive Engineer of MeECL M. Khonglah, headmen from adjoining villages and local residents.
