Meghalaya yet to get Centre’s nod for hosting National Games

SHILLONG: The state government is yet to get a final word from the Centre regarding National Games 2022 in Meghalaya.Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith Sangma said on Friday that no official letter has come from the centre in this matter.Earlier in the day, Governor Banwarilal Purohit in his address on the opening day of the budget session said with the support of the state government, the Meghalaya State Olympic Association successfully submitted the bid documents to the Indian Olympic Association for securing the rights to host the National Games in 2022 that will coincide with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the State, coming close on the heels of Meghalaya successfully co-hosting the 12th South Asian Games in 2016.
