State woman wins Literacy Hero award

SHILLONG: Shima Modak, founder of NGO Spark, has won the Literacy Hero Award representing Meghalaya and the North East at the national level. Modak was selected for her selfless service and efforts in providing education to underprivileged children amid several constraints. Literacy Hero Awards is one of the prestigious events which take place during the Rotary South Asia Literacy Summit once a year.
This was the first time that any one from the North East has received the award.
