Two die as truck falls into gorge

SHILLONG: Two persons died while a couple others sustained injuries when a truck plunged into a deep gorge at Nongbsa village in West Khasi Hills, a delayed report said.Police said that the incident occurred on March 16 when the truck (ML-09A-4658) driven by Masaralo Puwein plunged into the deep gorge in the village. In the incident, two occupants, John Roperts Jyndiang (18) and Johnstar Puwein (19), died on the spot, while the driver and another occupant sustained injuries.It may be mentioned that a similar accident took place in the district earlier this month in which 20 people were killed. In that incident a speeding truck carrying 78 people had rammed into a concrete barricade on National Highway 44(E).
