‘Bill needed further debate’

TURA: With a section of the Garo Hills population questioning the haste with which the NPP-led executive committee passed the Garo Customary Law Bill, Tura Lok Sabha MP Conrad K Sangma has also advocated the need for a more thorough debate and discussion before the bill was passed.
“Since it was a very important legislation I feel it would have been better if the bill was placed for further debate. The views of legal experts and the general public could have been taken before the bill was passed,” Sangma said.
