Guwahati: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday launched assam.mygov.in website as an interactive platform between the government and people of the state so that the government gets to know public opinion on different subjects.
Launching the website Sonowal said the electronic interactive platform would facilitate dialogue, discussion, deliberation and information dissemination between citizens and government and it would be a great tool for the people to give suggestion to the government on policy formulation and implementation.
Stating that the people are as much the stakeholders in the governance as the elective representatives Sonowal said that they must engage themselves in government’s functioning taking advantage of the hi-tech vehicle like this website..
“People have always been eager to provide their suggestions and feedback but due to lack of an interactive medium it was not possible for them. But now the website would provide the opportunity to the people to get closer to the government and bridge the gap in communication.” Sonowal said.
Urging all departments and institutions under State Government to accord priority to the website and adopt a participatory approach in their decision making, Sonowal said that this platform would be a vital link between the government and public in achieving the goal of making Assam one of the best states in the country.
The website would enable the state government to keep tab on the functioning of every office and efficiency level in carrying out their duties right from the panchayat to the Secretary level.
Sonowal stated people’s responsibility did not end with voting a government to the power but they had a crucial role to play in ensuring good governance at all levels.
“We are open to criticism of all kinds and I urge the people to participate fully in this endeavour of making truly a pro-people government.” Sonowal said.
Common people can log onto assam.mygov.in and engage in activities like group tasks, discuss various issues of public interest, engage in poll on different topics etc and make their opinions heard by the government.
Assam is the third state in the country after Maharastra and Hariyana to have launcehd MyGov portal which seeks to break the digital divide between the government and the governed.
