NONGSTOIN: Two young men drowned in the Kynshi river in West Khasi Hills while taking bath on Monday.
Dakotbor Synglyne (22), Medon Ryngkat Synglyne (23) and another person from Upper New Nongstoin village went to take bath in the Kynshi on Monday afternoon.
Witnesses said Dakotbor was swimming and had almost reached the shore when he “got tired and drowned”. Seeing this, Medon went to help him but he too drowned.
The third man who could not swim did not get into the water but shouted for help. Later, fire and emergency services from Nongstoin came to the spot and found the bodies after an hour’s search. After a request from the families, the bodies were not sent for postmortem.
