SHILLONG: Around 100 students from various schools in the city got an opportunity to interact with Meghalaya Governor Banwarilal Purohit who hosted the youngsters at the Raj Bhavan which opened to the public for viewing of the spring flowers in full bloom on Wednesday.
The Governor interacted to the students in both Hindi and English and asked them to be “honest and dedicated soldiers of the country”.
He narrated to them a story on famous American novelist Ernest Hemingway and former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The green lawn of the Raj Bhavan was brimming with activity as children cheerfully played in the park, took the swing and admired the spring flowers.
A source from the Raj Bhavan told The Shillong Times that the flowers are usually nurtured in the nursery of the Raj Bhavan.
A student, Bankerlang Nongsiej, from Pynthorbah Golf Links Government LP School said that he was amazed at the first-time experience of coming to the Raj Bhavan.
His teacher Palei Susan Synrem said that the exposure and the Governor’s words of encouragement will benefit the students.
