SHILLONG: The State Government will implement the MUDA bye laws in rural areas despite apprehensions from various quarters.
Urban Affairs Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh said people should not have any apprehensions about the building bye laws as rules are necessary for safety of the residents.
“The implementation of building bye laws is not encroachment. In suburbs, there are high-rise buildings and we cannot say that there should be exemption to the building bye laws on the outskirts,” he said.
According to Ronnie, the people in rural areas will have to live free from all hazards.
The minister, however, assured that the rules will be simplified and that there will be no harassment.
