SHILLONG: Meghalaya president of the BJP’s youth wing (BJYM) Egenstar Kurkalang raised various issues plaguing the State at the BJYM National Conference held at New Delhi from April 17-19.
National leaders of BJYM, BJP MPs including Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines Piyush Goyal and Commerce & Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended the conference.
Apart from Kurkalang, three other State BJYM members– Nangkotbok Hoojon, S.Lyngdoh and R Lapang, attended the conference.
In the meet, Kurkalang raised the plight of SSA teachers in Meghalaya who have been at the receiving end due to the non compliance on the part of the State Government to pay full salary as per the approval of Project Approval Board, HRD ministry since April 2016, which is Rs 19044 for lower primary teachers and Rs 20,493 for upper primary teachers.
He also flagged the issue of failure of the State government to solve the controversies in SSA teachers’ D.El.Ed.results with NIOS.
The BJYM also pointed out that the State government delayed the release of scholarships to students of Meghalaya.
Further, the non cooperation from State Government has delayed proper implementation of direct benefit schemes like Mudra loan, free gas connection to women, maternity benefits to pregnant women, and LED bulb subsidy scheme among others, he pointed out.
“It appears that the State Government does not want the people to reap the benefits of Central schemes,” the BJYM Meghalaya unit leader said.
The unit also urged the central leaders to follow up the matter with the concerned authorities.
Regarding SSA teachers’ salary, the BJYM Meghalaya unit submitted a memorandum to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar.
