AR to organise football talent hunt tourney

SHILLONG: The Assam Rifles will organise the under-19 football talent hunt tournament in Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur from May 1 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Madan Heh, Mawlai, a release issued here informed. The tournament will be organized in collaboration with the Meghalaya Football Association with an aim to promote the sport among the youth of the region. The curtain raiser for the tournament here will be played on April 27 at Assam Rifles Sports Complex,  Laitkor at 6 pm. In the run up to the FIFA under-17 world cup, which will be held in India in October, the paramilitary forces of the contry – Assam Rifles, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CRPF and CISF, are organising an all-India football tournament, Oorja – CAPF U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament, under the aegis of the Union Home Ministry and with assistance from the All India Police Sports Control Board.
