NONGSTOIN: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) West Khasi Hills has informed that the public can avail themselves of the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) which aims at providing clean cooking fuel to poor rural households.
“LPG connection under this scheme will be in the name of women belonging to the BPL families. For new LPG connection, cash assistance to the tune of Rs 1600 will be given which will cover the initial cost,” a DC office statement said on Wednesday.
“Stove with two burners costing Rs 999 and the cost of the first cylinder (Rs 591) will have to be borne by the beneficiary,” the statement added.
Women from BPL households without LPG connection can apply for a new connection with Nongstoin Ailang Gas Agency under the scheme.
