Hailstorm affects 500 houses in Maheskhola

SHILLONG: Several areas of Maheskhola under Ranikor C&RD block of South West Khasi Hills were hit by hailstorm on Friday, a delayed report said.
As many as 14 villages in the area were affected and 500 houses were damaged. The Block Development officer of Ranikor, F.D. Basan said that 500 houses of the fourteen villages were destroyed as the CGI sheets were damaged in the hailstorm.
Local MLA, Martin M Danggo, who is also the Minister incharge, PWD (road) along with the officials from Ranikor had left for Maheskhola to meet the villagers and carry out assessment of the affected areas.
