Mawlasnai village celebrates its ‘independence day’

NONGPOH: It was a memorable day for the people of Mawlasnai village in Ri Bhoi district as they recalled the formation of the village 39 years ago.
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawlasnai village celebrated the day and called it the first ‘independence day” of the village to mark the 39 years of journey after the village was separated from Umpohwin village under Hima Khyrim Syiemship. 39 years ago, Mawlasnai village had a small community with a few households falling under Umpohwin. However, for the prosperity of the community, the Dorbar Shnong of Umpohwin on May 18, 1978 declared formation of the Mawlasnai village separated from Umpohwin village thereby giving ‘independence’ to Mawalsnai.
To mark the 39 years of the village, local legislator of Umroi constituency, Ngaitlang Dhar graced the first “independence day” celebration.
