TURA: Former leaders of the disbanded A’chik National Volunteers Council-Breakaway (ANVC-B) have accused the State Government of giving rehabilitation fund to 18 individuals who did not belong to the outfit.
“We do not know who these 18 cadres are who got the package. Looks like the government is sanctioning our packages to other militants,” said Deepan G. Momin alias Jakrik Wareng, secretary of A’chik Matgriks, an organisation formed by former ANVC-B cadres after the disbanding ceremony.
The group had earlier criticised the State for not providing the list of names of eligible cadres despite its requests.
“The government is not coming out clean on the names of selected ANVC-B cadres. We could not forward the account numbers till now because the government did not give us the list of selected cadres. But now the government claims that 18 ANVC-B cadres have got the package. Who are these cadres,” A’chik Matgriks said and added that State officials did not consult with them before confirming the list.
The group has further accused the government of releasing different amounts for different outfits.
“Fifty-one UALA cadres got rehab package at Rs 2.5 lakh per head. We are afraid that packages meant for ANVC-B cadres are given to UALA. ANVC cadres got Rs 1.5 lakh each but UALAs got Rs 2.5 each. There is a serious anomaly in the distribution of packages to former militants. The government seems to have sanctioned the packages meant for former ANVC and ANVC-B cadres to UALA and others,” said the former ANVC-B leader.
The group said it would soon meet senior bureaucrat and Joint Secretary in charge of North East, Ministry of Home Affairs, Satyendra Garg, and apprise him of the situation.
