NONGSTOIN: Healthcare scenario in Rambrai Constituency, West Khasi Hills, is in a bad shape, which has become a matter of concern.
The FKJGP after receiving several complaints from the public conducted an inspection at the health centre.
The FKJGP led by J. Lyngkhoi, president and other members on Saturday, found that the Rambrai PHC has turned from bad to worse in term of treatment and other health facilities.
During their visit, the doctor in-charge informed that the labour room is so small that delivering babies has become very risky.
Lyngkhoi said that the State Government’s claim that all healthcare facilities in the state will be well-equipped with medicines and other facilities, but with their survey  the government assurance has fallen flat as the primary healthcare -centre in Rambrai do not even have the basic facilities.
The PHC does not have a special room or thermal protection for newborns, Lyngkhoi also said that the PHC also need to upgrade its quarter for the staff.
The FKJGP members were surprised to find out that the Primary Health Centre have no Ambulance driver.
The pressure group demanded the Government to upgrade the Primary Health Centre of Ram-brai to the Community Health Centre since the area has more than 50 villages.
The FKJGP will soon meet the Health Minister and also to tabled the immediate need of the PHC in the village.
