SHILLONG: The chairman of GHADC, Boston Marak, who is projected as the next chief executive member (CEM), on Tuesday rubbished the claim of BJP MDC Sofior Rahman that the NPP-led coalition in GHADC has 17 members.
Marak, who was suspended from NPP for trying to form an alternate Executive Committee, said on Tuesday that his group has 16 members and will meet the Governor regarding the formation of new the Executive Committee.
“I am not in a hurry to become the CEM, and we will shortly seek the appointment of the governor in this regard,” Marak said.
Earlier, the governor made a query as to whether Marak had resigned from the post of chairman of GHADC before giving his nod to Cabinet’s recommendation to withdraw administrator’s rule.
However, Marak said that he needs to resign only when he files the nomination for the post of CEM.
According to Marak, there is no basis on the part of Rahman to claim majority as he himself is not in good terms with NPP leader Conrad Sangma.
“Rahman was angry with Conrad over the allotment of haats (bazaars) and he had even challenged Conrad to contest as MDC,” Marak claimed.
He also criticised Rahman for posting comments on social media, which are not in good taste, thereby courting controversy.
Marak questioned the credibility of Rahman for his changing loyalties from Independent to NPP, then to Congress and finally to BJP.
While extending greetings to the people of Garo Hills on Eid, Marak said he wanted to work together with all sections of people.
