SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the Secretary of the Village Employment Council in Selsella Block, West Garo Hills District, to make the payment to a job card hold holder, as per the Government rules within a week. The card holder had petitioned in the court.
The Court also directed the BDO and Programme Officer, MGNREGS, Selsella C & RD Block to see what is the actual rate or remuneration for the job card holders and to issue an order to the Secretary, Village Employment Council, Patharkata East to follow the order or decision of the Government strictly.
After the case came up for hearing on Tuesday, the Judge SR Sen in his order made it clear that a person should get his remuneration as per the rules and decision of the Government.
There is no scope for the Secretary, Village Employment Council, Patharkata East to draw another resolution and to over ride the decision of the Government and to make provision for 50% payment, the Court said.
“I am really shocked as to why such decision has been taken by the Secretary, Village Employment Council, Patharkata East, Is it for his own profit? If it is so, it amounts to corruption and he deserves to face the enquiry”, the Court said.
