Minors die in WJH village, fingers point at parents

JOWAI: The death of two minors under mysterious circumstances in a village in West Jaintia Hills has prompted villagers to point fingers at their parents.
The bodies of the two children — eight-year-old Dameshwa Shadap Passah and five-year-old Lutmon Shadap Passah — were found outside Khliehrangnah village in Shangpung on Monday. But they were cremated on the same day without informing the police.
Sources said the parents – Bulki Shadap Passah and Tlo Lyngdoh – would often torture the minors. “Two days ago, they were tortured again and they went missing. The parents did not search for them. On Monday, the bodies were found from a place near the village,” the sources said.
A villager said he informed the police and “they will investigate the matter”.
