SHILLONG: Members of the Joint Action Committee of Social Organisations (JACSO) have approached the KHADC CEM PN Syiem on Wednesday to seek clarification from him on the construction of the petrol pump at Umran Dairy, Ri Bhoi, despite the issuance of stay order from the KHADC.
However, Syiem came under fire from JACSO members as he asserted that a Dorbar should be convened on July 8 to review why the headman of Umran Dairy, Lambor Bina issued NOC for the construction without any public hearing.
The KHADC had issued a stay order on the construction of the petrol pump at Umran Dairy on April 11.
The members of the JAC claimed that the order of the KHADC was flouted as the construction of petrol pump is almost completed.
Isrin Mawnai, a resident of Umran Dairy and president of CSWO (I) is annoyed over the decision of the CEM.
“We will not accept and we are not satisfied as to why is there a need to convene a Dorbar? We will not accept the July 8 meeting,” she said. Mawnai is confused over the short notice meeting called by the KHADC CEM.
The JAC members and the residents of Umran were disappointed as the construction of the petrol pump is progressing, while their complaints opposing its construction fell on deaf ears.
The members criticised the headman as they alleged that he issued NOC without convening a public hearing.
Mawnai stated, “The secretary and headman of the village were involved in helping the non-tribal as they were getting monetary benefits.”
Asserting that their complaints have made no headway, the JAC will file Public Interest Litigation (PIL).
