SHILLONG: The A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) has expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for allowing all SSLC and HSSLC students to take admission in higher secondary and under graduate courses in Tura Government College.
Harley Davidson N. Sangma, general secretary of the association, said in a statement released on Tuesday that the principal of the college informed ASWA about the decision.
ASWA was protesting against admission woes in Tura and had given the government time till June 4 to solve the problem. With the chief minister’s decision, the association has decided not to agitate. However, it said admission has become a yearly problem and the Government should extend support to the college to improve its infrastructure.
