SHILLONG: The Congress is optimistic that UDP will support UPA’s presidential candidate Meira Kumar despite Donkupar Roy and his party colleagues attending Ram Nath Kovind’s address on Friday.
Referring to Roy’s statement that one should vote for the candidate with better chance of winning, Cabinet Minister Zenith Sangma said, “I don’t think his (Donkupar Roy) conscience will allow him to take the wrong decision.”
Asserting that Kovind will get fewer votes from Meghalaya and Mizoram, Sangma said, “He visited Meghalaya as a formality because they (NDA members) also know that they will not get much support as almost all the legislators are with the opposition party’s candidate Meira Kumar.”
