City cops arrest 6 drug peddlers in two days

SHILLONG: Police arrested six drug peddlers from different parts of city in the continued effort to check the rise in cases of drug abuse.
The anti- narcotics team of the police also recovered small quantities of drugs, cash and mobile phones from their possession.
Police first arrested Elvis Marbaniang (34) and recovered .66 gram of heroin and cash Rs 180 from his possession.
Later, police picked up Tami Dhar (25) hailing from Nongthymmai. He was detained near Firebrigade and 0.12 gm of heroin, Rs. 6, 820 in cash and his mobile were recovered.
The third arrest was that of Debojyoti Koch (24) from Upper Nongrim Hills. Police found .10 gram of heroin, Rs 700 and a mobile.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, police apprehended three persons, Kishan Kalita (21) and two women, identified as Pinki Begum (22) and Aisha Khatun in her 40s.
Police seized Rs.14,084 and three packets suspected to be containing heroin weighing 0.06 grams each from Pinki’s possession.
