GUWAHATI: Trains services under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have been severely affected because of `rail roko’ agitation called by All Assam Koch Rajbanogshi Students’ Union (AAKRASU) from 5 A.M. on Monday to press for their demand for a separate Kamatapur state. The disruption has caused tremendous inconvenience to the commuters.
The agitation has forced the NFR authority to control several Up as well as Down trains as mentioned here:
Down TRAINS
- 09306 Guwahati-Indore special controlled at New Bongaigaon from 08-50 hrs.
- 12423 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express controlled at New Bongaigaon from 09-45 hrs.
- 12510 Guwahati – Bangalore Express controlled at New Bongaigaon from 10.10 hrs
- 15960 Dibrugarh – Howrah Kamrup Express controlled at Barpeta road from 10.22 hrs.
- 15620 Kamakhya – Gaya Express controlled at Goalpara Town from 09-24 hrs.

Meanwhile, due to Tripura Bandh called by the Indigenous People Forum of Tripura (IPFT) 15659 Sealdah – Agartala- Kanchanjungha Express will be short terminated at Badarpur in Silchar of South Assam, the NFR authority informed.
According to the latest report, the AAKRASU has called off it 12-hour `rail roko’ agitation mid-way on Monday after Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal agreed to meet a delegation of the organisation on July 17 next.
