SHILLONG: HSPDP said on Tuesday the contentious issue of railways can be solved through dialogues and the government should invite local organisations to the talks table.
The party’s leaders will meet Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on the issue that has led to a ripple of violence protests and attacks on public establishments in the State since May.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, HSPDP said it “strongly resents the establishment of railway lines” without any proper mechanism to prevent large-scale influx.
Stressing on the need for talks to end the deadlock with KSU members, HSPDP said in its statement, “The party feels that the government should have called the NGOs to a dialogue because it is only through discussion that this issue can be resolved.”
At the same time, the party has appealed to the chief minister that police should immediately stop arresting KSU members as this would aggravate the problems.
