SHILLONG: Mawlai MDC, P T Sawkmie who is also the co-chairman of Meghalaya Resource and Employment Generation Council, has hailed  the directive of the Supreme Court for extending a three-month stay on the Center’s notification banning the sale and purchase of cattle for slaughter.

In a press statement issued here, he said that the suspension of the government’s notification was a message to the BJP that it should not be hasty in taking policy decisions.

Sawkmie added that the stay order was a relief to those engaged in the livestock business as  well as millions of Indians employed in the leather and beef industry.
