SHILLONG: The second edition of the Monolith Festival held in 2016 has won accolades in the prestigious WOW Awards Asia 2017 held at Aerocity, New Delhi on July 7 and 8.
In a statement issued here on Thursday the Rockski Group, which was the event management agency responsible for the production of the festival in the first two editions, said the WOW Awards Asia is the most reputed recognition platform encompassing almost every aspect of the event industry.
It added that the Monolith Festival 2016 received two bronze awards, the first one being for Intellectual Property-Achievement in Production Management and the other for Intellectual Property- Festival of the Year in Art/Culture/Lifestyle.
The gold and silver achievers were based out of Dubai.
“Awards are great reaffirmation of the effort put in by our team on audience engagement. The wins at WOW are doubly special because of the stiff competition we were up against,” Jason Manners of Rockski Group stated.
He further added, “We were invited for a discussion with members of the Dubai Tourism Board and they mentioned that everybody was shocked with the kind of budget the Monolith Festival had to do with (Contd on P-10)

(Contd from P-3) as they had expected it to cost a lot more with the kind of work done during the festival.”
Manners went on saying that one of the judges in the category, Lee Charteris, the current President of the ILEA Middle East Chapter was very impressed and expressed his interest of even visiting the Festival because he has never seen an Indigenous Festival of this scale being managed in a professional manner.
The Rockski group credited the award to the Khasi Heritage Conservation Forum (KHCF).
