Govt calls 13 pressure groups for talks

SHILLONG: The State Government has called the 13 pressure groups for talks on July 19 here to discuss the status of entry and exit points to address the issue of influx.
Sources said on Thursday that the meet assumes significance in the context of series of arsons cases that hit the State after the KSU protested against the railway work in Byrnihat.
After the arson cases, mostly in Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hills, several KSU activists were arrested.
Sources said that the chief minister is expected to chair the meeting on July 19 to explain about the government initiatives to address influx.
