SHILLONG: Senior Congress leader and former Cabinet Minister Rowell Lyngdoh might not contest the 2018 Assembly polls.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Friday, the veteran politician said he has not decided whether he would contest the 2018 Assembly elections because of his age.
“Though people are pressing me to contest the elections but honestly I have not decided whether I should contest,” he said.
The senior leader is also not sure whether the Congress would allot ticket to him “since other leaders are projecting some individual to contest from Mawkyrwat constituency”.
“If I have to contest, I will contest from the Congress only and not any other party,” he said.
He also sounded optimistic about the elections saying if he contests, he would definitely win as “people are still supporting”.
“If I don’t contest, then I don’t know what will happen to the Congress in Mawkyrwat,” he said.
Lyngdoh, who was the former Law Minister, was dropped from the Cabinet along with AL Hek to pave way for two new entrants, Ronnie V. Lyngdoh and MM Danggo.
