Police in Amlarem start clamping vehicles flouting parking rules

SHILLONG: Police in Amlarem sub-division of West Jaintia Hills district as started clamping vehicles which are found flouting parking regulation in order to in order to do away with haphazard parking vehicles on roads.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jason Mairom said police would be strict in putting clamp on vehicles which are found parked illegally on road especially on market days in villages like Jarain and Shkentalang.

Vehicles drop and pick up passengers and goods in these places which may cause accidents. The police official recalled that last month an accident took place at Shkentalang on market area in which a 65-year-old woman Philin Lyngdoh was killed.
