SHILLONG: A complaint has been lodged with the police regarding the exploitation of a Meghalaya woman in Telangana.
The FIR filed with the police at Laitumkhrah on Saturday by the CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that Milmoris Lyngkhoi from West Khasi Hills has been barred to leave the training institute at Hyderabad and that those who manned the institute had demanded money from her.
According to the FIR, the training as advertised was for the appointment of beautician, however, it was later known that the training was for massage to be deployed in spas.
Lyngkhoi on learning this, immediately wanted to return from Hyderabad, but the institute, 02 Skill Private Limited is demanding Rs 20,000.
The local office of 02 Skill Private Limited is located at Malki.
Reportedly, the trainees were not taught beautician course, but were taught how to massage.
Earlier, the 02 Skill Private Limited had signed a deal with the State’s employment and craftsmen and labour department.
While stating that the institute was cheating poor rural girls, the CSWO said that the recruitment was aimed at sexual exploitation.
Kharshiing has also alerted IGP Robin Hibu of New Delhi, to rescue the girl from 02 Skill Private Limited, C/O nexus engineering college Yacharam (Mandal and Village), Ibranhimputnam, Rangareddy (district), Telengana.
This is certainly not the first case of exploitation against North-eastern women.
A number of cases have been reported from across the country and many have come out to protest against it.
The women from Northeast have often been lured to sex racket.
In the year 2016, several North-eastern women working in Goa have come out in protest against unfair labour practices and an unsafe work environment that puts them at risk of sexual assault and compromises their dignity.
They had alleged that the leading massage salons in the State have repeatedly forced them to visit the homes of unknown individuals to give massage services and driven there alone, putting them at sexual risk from the clients.
In the year 2014, Hyderabad Police Act said that the massage parlours in the city mostly use North-eastern men and women to attract customers. These parlours had come under police radar for running sex rackets.
