GST seminar
Max Cement organized a seminar on GST at a city hotel on July 22. Ankit Jain, a CA, who was invited from Kolkata as a GST trainer briefed the participants regarding GST and the benefits they can derive from it. A total of 27 dealers attended the seminar.

National seminar
The Anthropological Survey of India, North East Regional Centre, Shillong will organize a national seminar on the theme ‘Anthropological Researches in North East India: Colonial and Post Colonial Dimensions’ from July 26-28 at Moreau Institute of Integral Training.

Indo-Bangla dialogue
The 2nd Indo-Bangladesh dialogue on Trans Boundary Conservation of Elephants will be held at the State Convention Centre on July 27. Senior officers from the Government of India and Bangladesh besides the State Government will attend the dialogue.

Lecture
The second lecture of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lecture series by Padma Vibhushan G Madhavan Nair, former ISRO chairman will be held on July 27 at Meghalaya State Convention Centre

Young Indians programme
Young Indians Meghalaya Chapter under the leadership of its Chairperson, RK V Byrsat conducted its first programme under the Masoom vertical on July 24. The theme of the programme was “Adolescence and Child Rights”. The event was held at Pariong Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, West Khasi Hills. More than 100 students participated in the interactive session. The programme is part of Young Indians Meghalaya @ 50 vision.

Recitation
Metallica Sargam Sports & Cultural Club, Shillong, organized its 16th annual inter-school English recitation competition at Don Bosco Youth Center on Saturday. 300 students from took part in the competition.

Office bearers
The YWCA, Shillong elected new office bearers and board members recently with Meba-ailang Kharkongor named the president, Vino Paswet the vice president, Niloufer Laloo the recording secretary and Phiralin Lyngrah the treasurer. The elected board members are Aloma Blah, Melanie War, Julie Lyngwa, Pauline Marbaniang among others.

MUPSTA meet
The upper primary school teachers under the banner of Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA), Ri Bhoi Unit will organize a general meeting at Nepali UP School, Nongpoh on July 29 to present the annual report of the association and election of new office bearers. The association has requested all upper primary teachers of the District to attend the meet.
