Man gets life term for killing wife

JOWAI: A local court here sentenced a Nepalese man to life imprisonment for killing his wife in 2015.
The man, identified as Madoini Maila Magar, was convicted on July 25 by district sessions judge B. Giri.
On January 26, 2015, Magar came to his wife’s residence after separation. His wife Mary Jaan Tyngka chased him out and did not allow him to stay but at around 2am he came back and killed her while she was sleeping with her mother. He hit her with a wooden plank on her head and she died instantly.
Later, the man tried to kill himself but was later admitted in Jowai Civil Hospital, the same hospital where his wife’s body was conducted an autopsy before her corpse was handed to her relative for the last rites.
