NGH teachers familiarized on school safety plan

TURA: A two-day Familiarization programme on School Disaster Management Plan or School Safety was organized for School teachers of North Garo Hills at Resubelpara Circuit House on Wednesday and Thursday.

Focusing on the safety of teachers, children and staff members during disasters, various aspects of safety measures were highlighted during the programme and teachers were instructed to create School disaster preparedness plan in order to mitigate losses caused during natural or manmade disaster. The conduct of mock drills in their respective schools was also urged for effective implementation of the school safety plan.  

The programme undertaken by the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute, Shillong in tandem with District Disaster Management Authority, Fire & Emergency, District Medical & Health Office, Resubelpara and State Disaster Relief Force, Tura covered topics like Introduction to School Safety Plan, Disaster Management; its need and importance, Layout & Power point presentation of School Safety Plan, National School Safety Programme etc. A Mock Drill demonstration also took place for the benefit of all present.

The programme was attended by DSEO, H G Momin and Principals and teachers from various schools of the district.
