SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government will not accord jobs at the level of Grade III and IV to individuals or members of the community who had given their land to the state for government projects and other government establishments.
Chief minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday, while citing an example of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme, said the Cabinet recently regularised the posts of 16 people who had given their land for the project.
“We further amended the policy to ensure better clarity at the time of enforcing those provisions,” he said.
According to Sangma, under the policy, the group of land owners or individual owners who have deposited their land would not have their names recommended as probable job candidates to the appointing authority based on their discussions and negotiations. If the land belongs to community or traditional leaders, then they would have to consult among themselves and recommend the names to be provided for jobs in consultation with the people who would be considered as project affected family.
