Assam driver assaulted in city

SHILLONG: A driver of Assam based Tourist Sumo was allegedly assaulted by a group of middlemen, who arrange passengers, here in Keating road on Saturday evening.
The driver of the Sumo (AS01 DD 3427) in the FIR lodged at Sadar Police station alleged that the middlemen also took away Rs 7000 and his driving license.
Police picked up four persons for assaulting the driver identified as J Marwein, M. Mawong, B Kharshiing and W. Marwein. The accused persons were later released after signing a bail bond.
