South West Garo Hills to mark 5th anniversary

Tura: South West Garo Hills will be celebrating its’ 5th anniversary at Ampati on Monday.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul M. Sangma will also be attending the event.
 As part of the celebration, different departments will portray their achievements in pushing forward the growth and development in the district and by creating awareness on different welfare schemes and programmes of the government.
 In 2012, the district was formed by upgrading the erstwhile Ampati Civil Sub-Division, in order to bring governance and administration closer to the people.
 To mark the day, a grand public function will be held at Ampati Students’ Field.
The day will begin with an open marathon at 7am titled – ‘Ampati Run’, followed by a students’ march at 11am.
The official programme will begin at 11:30am.
In the evening, programmes will include a cultural and a rock show, which will provide platforms for local talent.
 ”The District Administration of South West Garo Hills has over a period of five years made a humble beginning in many spheres and achieved remarkable progress in many sectors.”
“This has been done due to concerted efforts of all departments, with the support received from public representative and the cooperation of the people of this district”, said Cyril V.D. Diengdoh, Deputy Commissioner.
