SHILLONG: The woman who was allegedly assaulted by MLA Sanbor Shullai lodged an FIR on Saturday bringing in more charges, including outraging her modesty, against him.
Though the matter was verbally reported to police on Friday, the stand of the MLA compelled the victim to lodge the complaint officially.
However, Shullai lodged a counter FIR against the woman, her brother Mickey Passah, one Disyona Passah on the same day by saying that when he was at his residential office on August 4, the trio forcibly entered with an ill motive to tarnish his image and without any provocation threatened him in front of his staff and tried to attack him with a dangerous weapon.
The MLA also said that his staff prevented them from causing any harm and after intervention of his family, the accused persons fled while also threatening him with false compliant.
“The accused person is politically motivated with ill intention to tarnish my image with the help of some persons with vested
interests”. According to the FIR filed by the woman, the genesis of the issue was related to the MLA interfering in the affairs of ‘Stay Four Seasons Guest House’, at Bishnupur owned by the woman, on August 2 when candidates for army recruitment were accommodated in the guest house.
Shullai told Micky Passah, brother of the victim, that “Dkhars (non-tribals) should not be given any accommodation”, the FIR stated. The MLA allegedly snatched the documents of the property and refused to give it back to Micky, who was assaulted by his accomplices.
The NCP leader also went into other rooms which had guests. “The other guests had gone on sight-seeing and Shullai was told about that. However, he went on to throw the luggage. He asked his staff to get locks and then he locked the rooms,” the FIR stated.
The incident happened when the woman was in Delhi.
After she came back to Shillong on August 4, she went to meet the MLA at his official residence at Kench’s Trace but he abused her using inflective and pushed her which according to the FIR amounts to outraging her modesty. Later, she went to Shillong Civil Hospital for medical examination.
Shullai, however, refuted all allegations and instead, had said on Friday that the woman was in inebriated state and created nuisance. Medical reports of the woman, which was also submitted to the police, did not show alcohol in blood. The woman has levelled charges of trespassing, outrage of modesty and attempt to create disharmony, besides defamation.
