Kohima:  Naga Peoples Front (NPF) President and former Chief Minister, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu has termed that “the present crisis created by the TR Zeliang and Neiphiu Rio group as repercussion of their failure to hijack the NPF party to BJP.”
In a press statement issued by the NPF Kohima division press secretary said that at the NPF Central office in Kohima division stated addressing the felicitation programme organised for him, Dr. Liezietsu said it was unfortunate that Zeliang and Rio, after their failure to hijack the NPF into BJP, have now turn their eye to dismantle the NPF party through backdoor. However, their evil design to ruin the party could not be fulfilled, he added. Dr. Liezietsu further alleged that Zeliang and Rio, along with Governor, P B Acharya; BJP Nagaland in charge, Ram Madhav and North East Democratic Alliance chairman, Himanta Biswa Sarma agreed upon to dismiss his Government and install TR Zeliang Government. Fearing that the Naga people as well as the legislators would oppose such move, Dr. Liezietsu said “they have now bargained to dismantle the NPF party.” While terming the action of some party workers as very unfortunate, for leaving the party to be with the expelled and suspended NPF MLAs, Dr. Liezietsu reminded the party workers not to worry saying, “they have run away from the party as they could not face the challenges ahead of them.”
On appointment of Rio as the ‘Interim NPF President, Dr. Liezietsu said it was a foolish political move, since there was no such post mentioned in the NPF party constitution. To this, he categorically pointed out those who have left the party, in support of Rio as their leader, have automatically detached themselves from the NPF, he said, adding “Rio is nobody in the party.” Dr. Liezietsu called upon the party leaders to take the present crisis as a challenge and a test to prove one’s integrity and sincerity towards the party. “Politics is like weather, it has ups and downs. But leaders who stood with the principle always wins,” he added. He was optimistic that the coming 2018 general election, the party would have a peaceful election with only the good leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, NPF MLA, Chotisuh Sazo described the present crisis as a fight between the NPF and the greedy and power hungry leaders. He said the bye-poll victory of Dr. Liezietsu was a triumph of the entire Naga people, who stood by the truth. (UNI)
