SHILLONG: State Home Minister, H R D Lyngdoh on Monday unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the Nonghyllam Police Station which was used to be an anti-dacoits camp earlier.
In his inaugural speech, Lyngdoh informed that this was the third police station South West Khasi Hills district and the 57 police stations in the state. Lauding the effort of the local representative under whose leadership the police station was inaugurated, Lyngdoh reiterated that the government was responsive and accommodative to the demand of the local people and the fulfillment of their dreams and aspirations.
“Had it not been of the hard endeavour of the government, the creation of this police station would have been impossible” added Lyngdoh.
While congratulating and appreciating police personnel for the prompt action taken by them in freeing two persons who have been recently abducted by criminals, Lyngdoh said, “The police deserved an applause.”
Lyngdoh called upon the people to work in tandem with the police in order to eradicate all criminal activities so as to bring about peace and harmony which is the only way to progress and development and urged the people to report immediately to the police if they see or hear any suspected person with criminal intent.
